Why Do People Get Fired From Their Jobs?

More often than not, the attitude of the people is their biggest foe. As long as an individual has a balance in his character, even in cases when he is not competent for the job, the employer would be reluctant to fire him. Some of the most commonly cited reasons for people getting fired from their jobs are discussed.

Honesty is the best policy as the saying goes has to go along with integrity. While an honest temperament is required to be part of a team, the person should exhibit extreme caution in handling organization sensitive information.

The resume should perfectly and truly depict the individual. Cross checking of references is done by all organizations at some point of time. Any claims of academic or individual achievements should be made with adequate proof for consideration.

It is very important to follow the orders and policies of an organization while an individual is working for the organization. While having to do a seemingly immoral or unethical task, the individual should try to take a professional stand in that issue.

It is important to be professional in conduct and one should refrain from putting the industry resources at his disposal for personal use. As long as the person is working in the premises of the organization, the interests of the organization should be given first priority.

The behavior and the contribution of an individual towards the goal and the mission of a company should be predictable and stable. Eccentricity in any form from the individual, which affects the company's productivity, should be avoided.

An employee being social with other people is vital to an organization depending on team work. The employee should be perfectly capable of having civil conversations with anyone in the organization. Personality development programs and communications programs help to sort out problems they might have.

Some people who bluff their way through interviews might find it tough to do real time work. If they are unable to learn their job quickly they would be exposed soon. Some people would be under qualified or under-trained for a job.

One technique used by certain people who feel insecure about their jobs is to unnecessarily prolong a job assignment. This would give the employer a feeling that the employee's interests are not in the direction of the organization's interest.

It is not always wise to utilize every bit of 'time off 'possible without a valid reason. Even though it might be acceptable under the organization policy, it would give the employer the feeling that the employee is not satisfied or comfortable with the job. People whose absenteeism, could be explained by personal problems could attend counseling sessions organized by the company.

Addiction to drugs is certain to cause irregularities in an individual's habits. This would also cause additional pressure on other people in the organization who would find it difficult to deal with such a person.

The above said ten points are some of the behavioral aspects expected from an employee from every employer. Failure to fulfill the expectation of the employer in any one of the above said points would lead to the person being fired from his or her job.
