Earthmoving with Scrapedozers produced by FRUTIGER - Operation "SILENT NIGHT"

www.scrapedozer.com From 4 on 24th December 2009 up until 4:15am on the 28th December 2009, the ICE-railway between Berlin and Frankfurt, next to Braunschweig, was closed for a bridge to be built over a new motorway feeder. Within just 20 hours 16.000 m3 of the existing embankment, had to be removed to another landfill, which was located 200 m away. The Bridge for this project was already built in October 2009 next to the existing embankment ready for the lateral insertion to be prepared. Following the disruption of the ICE line, the plan involved the removal of the track and overhead line first. On the 24th December at 9:45am, two hours before the scheduled start, the engines were started ready to go. Using 4 machines and one stand-by machine, from our 20 strong rental fleet, with eight motivated Scrapedozer drivers from the FRUTIGER-Earthmoving team worked in two shifts. 16 hours later, on the 25th December at 02:00am, 16.000 m3 was moved. Following this the specialist from the Ordnance disposal examined the ground for duds and the foundations could now be dug. For the next step, the bridge was inserted. The backfill as well as the re-establishment of the railways, the railway pole and the overhead lines were restored on the last phase. The time saved allowed the company Hentschke Bau GmbH more time for mounting the bridge and fixing the pylons. This finally was an important step to finish the overall project on time.
