Noel Edmonds, a UK radio and television presenter, has known both success and disaster. Several of his shows have been smash hits but one of them 'The Late, Late Breakfast Show' ended its run abruptly when a bungee jump stunt ended in the death of a member of the public.
Later 'Noel's House Party' won international awards but was, eventually, criticized intensely and then axed in 1999. However, he has come through a testing period in his life and is now in demand again by both ITV and the BBC.
Several things helped Noel survive the bad times. One of them was Cosmic Ordering.
Noel does not just wish vaguely and erratically for what he wants; he writes his desires down and looks at them regularly. By doing this he places an order with the universe or cosmos and then takes action to help the universe send him what he ordered.
In other words, he has a positive belief in a friendly universe which will respond to clearly stated desires, wishes and proactive actions. The universe is much more likely to respond if you take decisive action to fulfil your own desires and if you are grateful for what you have already been given.
Noel carries a card with him. On the left side of the card; he writes down 4 or 5 things for which he is grateful and thinks about these things regularly. The 'things' could of course be people. Gratitude makes the cosmos more responsive and more likely to reward the grateful person.
On the right side of his card, Noel writes down 'four or five things I want to progress.' I imagine we could call these 'goals' or definite dreams or desires.
He studies the card regularly and comments:
"It is fascinating to see in the evening how far these things have been achieved. I have placed half a dozen cosmic orders and they have been delivered so it works me."
One of these orders was for another TV show which would present a challenge to him.
"I did place a cosmic order for a challenge that was innovative and demanding."
He was offered the show 'Deal or No Deal' which is now hugely successful.
"I am struggling to think of anything that would make me happier. I will place an order for continuation."
Some see talk of the Cosmos as another way of talking about God whether it is the God out there or 'Emmanuel', the God within. Cosmic ordering sounds to me very much like a disciplined form of prayer.
Jesus taught us to 'Ask and you shall receive.' St Paul taught us to 'pray with thanksgiving.' Both believed in the enormous power of prayer.
Whatever view you take, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. One way to test cosmic ordering or, if you prefer, disciplined prayer, is to make a brief list of 5 things or people you are grateful for and think with gratitude about this list at least twice a day.
Then make a list of 5 clear and definite goals or dreams that you want to achieve and study these at least twice a day. Place an order with the cosmos for these i.e. ask the cosmos or God or your inner self for these goals to be delivered to you and expect them to be delivered
Finally take action to aid in the delivery. I am reminded of the Royal Mail who occasionally ask you to drive miles to pick up a parcel which they failed to deliver! If you don't take action and drive to the depot, the parcel is returned to the sender.
On one occasion, I drove to the depot three times and they could not then find the parcel. Later they phoned me to say they had found it and eventually I was able to collect it. I can't remember for sure but I probably had to pay for the privilege as well.
I hope your cosmic orders will eventually be delivered but be careful not to ask for disaster to befall that neighbour you don't get on with.
As the Buddha warned, your anger can be like a red hot stone which you plan on throwing at someone else. It is more likely to burn your own hand than it is to hurt him or her.
Make a list now of what you really want and study it at least twice a day. Take at least one action every day towards achieving what you want. Let me know if you have any results. Remember that neither cosmic ordering nor regular prayer offer guarantees but many people claim that they work.
Maybe they will work for you. There is only one way to find out.
